Familial Mediterranean fever
Mediterranean fever (FMF) is a disorder. FMF is an autoinflammatory disease caused by in the Mediterranean fever (MEFV) gene, which encodes a 781–amino acid called pyrin. Whilst all ethnic groups are susceptible to FMF, it usually occurs in people of Mediterranean origin –including Levantines, Sephardic Jews, Mizrahi Jews, Ashkenazi Jews, Assyrians, Armenians, Azerbaijanis, Druze, Kurds, Greeks, Turks and Italians.
